From Raw Materials to Finished Filter Elements: Inside Our Production Process
How We Manufacture Industrial Filter Elements with Attention to Materials and Quality Control

Every reliable filter element starts with carefully selected materials and a well-controlled manufacturing process. From filter media and support cores to end caps and sealing components, each part plays an important role in the performance, durability, and compatibility of the finished product. At Boweyfilter, we manufacture a wide range of industrial filter elements for different filtration applications. In this article, we take you inside our workshop to show how raw materials are processed, components are assembled, and finished filter elements are inspected before shipment.

1. Raw Material Selection
The quality and suitability of raw materials are essential to filter element performance. We select materials according to the product design, operating conditions, and customer requirements.
• Filter Media: Fiberglass, HV fiberglass, cellulose, polypropylene/PP, stainless steel wire mesh, and other available filtration materials.
• End Caps: Metal or plastic end caps selected according to the required structure and application.
• Support Cores: Perforated metal tubes, support mesh, or other structural components designed to provide the required strength.
• Sealing Components: NBR, FKM (Viton), EPDM, and other sealing materials selected according to fluid compatibility and operating temperature.

2. Filter Media Cutting and Pleating
After material selection, the filter media is cut to the required dimensions and processed according to the product design.
For pleated filter elements, pleating machines form the media into evenly spaced folds. Pleat height, spacing, and overall geometry are controlled according to the design requirements.
These factors influence the available filtration area, flow characteristics, and pressure drop of the finished filter element.

3. Component Processing and Assembly
Once the filter media has been prepared, it is combined with the required support structures and other components.
Depending on the filter element design, the manufacturing process may include:
• Support Core Installation: Fitting the filter media around or inside the designated support structure.
• End Cap: Attaching end caps through suitable bonding, welding, or other assembly methods.
• Sealing Installation: Fitting the specified O-rings, gaskets, or other sealing components.
• Structural Finishing: Checking component alignment and assembly condition.
The assembly method and materials vary according to the filter element type, dimensions, and technical specifications.

4. Final Assembly and Dimensional Inspection
After assembly, the filter element undergoes final inspection to verify that it conforms to the applicable specifications.
Depending on the product, inspection may include:
• Dimensional Verification: Checking outer diameter, inner diameter, length, and end cap configuration.
• Component Inspection: Verifying the installation and fit of sealing rings and other components.
• Visual Inspection: Checking for visible damage, burrs, loose media, and other assembly defects.
• Workmanship Inspection: Reviewing the overall assembly and appearance.
Inspection requirements are determined by the product specifications and applicable quality procedures.

5. Quality Control and Performance Testing
Quality control is an important part of our filter element manufacturing process. Appropriate inspection and testing methods are selected according to the product design and technical requirements.
Depending on the filter element type, testing and verification may include:
• Dimensional Testing: Verifying critical dimensions against drawings or specifications.
• Filter Media Testing: Checking relevant media properties and filtration characteristics.
• Integrity Testing: Applying suitable integrity test methods, such as bubble point testing, where applicable.
• Material Verification: Checking specified materials and component requirements.
• Inspection Records: Recording relevant inspection results according to the applicable procedures.
Not every test applies to every filter element. The inspection and testing plan depends on the product structure, filtration requirements, and customer specifications.

6. OEM & ODM Customization
Different filtration systems require different filter element designs. We support customized manufacturing based on customer drawings, original part numbers, samples, and technical specifications.
Our customization services include:
• OEM and ODM Manufacturing: Production based on customer requirements and approved designs.
• Custom Filtration Ratings: Available micron ratings selected according to the application and media specifications.
• Dimensional Matching: Custom outer diameters, inner diameters, lengths, end caps, and connection configurations.
• Material Selection: Filter media, support structures, and sealing materials tailored to the intended operating conditions.
• Sample Development: Sample production for dimensional verification and customer evaluation, subject to project requirements.
Whether you need replacement filter elements for existing filtration equipment or a custom-designed solution, our team can review your requirements and help identify a suitable manufacturing approach.

7. Packaging and Shipment
After the required inspections are completed, finished filter elements are prepared for packaging and shipment.
Packaging methods are selected according to product dimensions, structure, protection requirements, and shipping arrangements. Proper packaging helps protect filter elements from damage and contamination during handling and transportation.
We can coordinate packaging and shipping requirements with customers to support domestic and international deliveries.
